If not, call your admitting doctor or primary care doctor and ask what they recommend. Ask for them in writing or get a friend or family member to help you take notes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u25a2 \u00a0Schedule a follow-up appointment with your specialist or primary care doctor.<\/strong>\u00a0It's very important to see your doctor within one to two weeks of returning home. They\u2019ll help monitor your condition and keep your recovery on track.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u25a2 \u00a0Remind yourself to take your medications.<\/strong> Tip: Set an alarm on your phone or enlist the help of a friend or family member to prompt you.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u25a2 \u00a0Make sure you understand your medications and what they do.<\/strong> Knowing how your medications help your condition, and how they may interact with each other (and with foods), will help you keep your blood sugar balanced.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u25a2 \u00a0Know your \u201cred flags.\u201d<\/strong> Do you know how to tell if your condition is worsening?
