Whether you're driving across the country or flying internationally, new places, lack of sleep, and exposure to new people (and new germs!) can increase your chances of getting sick. Make sure you're giving your immune system the added boost it needs to keep your body healthy.<\/p>\n<h2><b>1. Sleep<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When you don\u2019t get enough sleep, it\u2019s harder for your body to fight colds. (Sleep deprivation suppresses your immune system.) Aim for getting a full night\u2019s sleep a few nights leading up to your travel date, and be sure to get enough rest once you arrive at your destination.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>2. Hydrate<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Water is so important! A fully hydrated body cleanses toxins and keeps your immune system strong. It\u2019s easy to get dehydrated on an airplane, so be sure to bring a water bottle and refill it often. Aim for one glass of water for every hour of the flight.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>3. Exercise<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Add exercise to your checklist. Gentle exercise, such as walking, biking, or yoga, increases the circulation of immune cells that boost immunity. It\u2019s important not to overdo it, though, because more rigorous exercise can decrease immunity.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>4. Eat healthy<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For an extra boost to your immunity, eat foods high in vitamin C and other immunity-building nutrients, such as bell and chili peppers, kale, broccoli, strawberries, pineapples, and kiwis.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>5. Get your immunizations<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When\u2019s the last time you got a flu shot?
